Biography
Saudat Sanusi is a Nigerian-British female writer/director based in London.
She has written, directed and produced several short films which have enjoyed great success on the film festival circuit. Her latest short film, BEAUTIFUL THINGS was awarded the Best Drama Short award at the London Independent Film Festival 2022.
Her pilot episode script for her original television drama series, THE SANDS placed in the top 10% of all scripts received for the BBC Writersroom Open Call 2023 Development Programmes. Her feature film screenplays ALABA (formerly known as The Circle of Fifths) and MINIATURE were selected for the second round of consideration for the Sundance Institute Screenwriters Lab 2021 and 2019 respectively.
Through her production company, Sysan Productions, Saudat aims to tell stories about those who feel caught in between different worlds, whether it be culturally or figuratively.
Saudat is a member of BAFTA Connect. She is also an Associate member of Directors UK and took part in the Directors UK Inspire Programme 2023-2024. She participated in the National Film and Television School’s Directors Series in 2020.
She has an MA in Film from Staffordshire University/Raindance.
Saudat also has experience working in the finance industry and is a qualified accountant.

Beautiful Things is an award-winning short film which tells the compelling story about Sade, a modern British Nigerian woman, who returns to help her estranged widowed father, who is a hoarder. In the process of helping him, they both deal with the demons of the past.
